Book 1

Book 1: Through the Mirror and into Snow (Snow White)

When best friends Valerie and Samantha discover a magic mirror in Val’s 100-year-old barn in southern Minnesota, they eagerly go through it. Immediately they run into the young Snow White, who has just escaped the huntsman. The girls vow to help her find her father, knowing the dangers that await. On their journey, the fun-loving double-trouble duo quickly discover they are caught up in the middle of their favorite fairy tales.

Having the knowledge of the stories as their only weapon, Val and Sam help two other princesses, make a surprising friend and discover they have a fairy godmother of their very own.

Book 2

Book 2: Into the Forest and Down the Tower (Rapunzel)

It’s time for Samantha’s summer visit again. Both she and Val are anxious to see if they will take another magical journey through the mirror. After learning of a problem with one of the horses, Odette makes her appearance and tells the girls it’s up to them to help him.

What Charlie needs is something that can only be found in their magical land. It can’t be given to them; they have to solves riddles and discover the answers themselves. A family of elves guides them, but even elf powers are limited when it comes to what stands between the girls and what they seek.

Trolls and unicorns were everything they imagined and more, but rescuing Rapunzel from her tower was an added bonus they never saw coming.

Book 3

Book 3: Off to Camp and Discovering Art (King Arthur)

Valerie and Samantha are disappointed that their schedules were not allowing them to spend a week together this summer like they have done every year since they were young. Their parents are able to plan a weekend camping trip towards the end of summer. The girls are happy for the visit, but sad to think they can’t go through the mirror this year on another adventure. They discover the magic is not only within the mirror, but within themselves when they are together. Merlin the magician shows up to take them on their quest to help Arthur find his true identity and his place in Camelot.

~Author interview~

1. Hello, Ann! Can you tell us something about you and your book "Through the Mirror and Into the Snow”?

It's a story near & dear to my heart for many reasons. The characters are based on my daughter and her best friend. It was an absolute blast to write.  My favorite stories have always been fairy tales re-told. I was thrilled when I first sat down and started to make a story out of them that this was the direction it took.
2. When have you decided that you want to be a writer?

I didn't decide - it was decided for me. My teachers from the 3rd grade on always said I would be a writer. It just took until I was 40 that I sat down to actually do it. Unlike a lot of friends who have short stories in files from years on end, I pretty much dove right in with these tales.
3. Where do you find your inspiration for your novels? (If it’s not a secret) Have you ever found it in your real life?

Everything around me is where I draw my inspiration.  The girls, my pets, hubby... It seems like every little quirk finds a purpose!
4. Do any of your fictional character resemble you?

I guess the mom in the story is me. She's a little freaky about her polly pocket collection and talks to the animals to the point of driving Val's dad crazy.
5. Which book is the first one that you’ve read?

I can't say that I remember a first. Having read to both of my kids, the stories blurr. I do remember loving Misty of Chincoteague  early on and Narnia.
6. Do you have a favorite book?

I don't think I could possibly pick just one. I have favorites in different genres - but no overall "one" favorite.
7. If you were about to leave in a trip which book would you take with you?

Here's where modern technology lets you cheat! I'd take my Nook so I have 100+ to chose from!!
8. Tell us one thing you’d like to change at people from nowadays. (should this be about people?)

I would love to set the clock back a bit  to a simpler time. It seems the art of  common courtesy are just not what they used to be.  At times, it seems like a very "me" generation.  Maybe that's why I like getting lost in a fairy tale land.
 9. Is there a moment in your life you’d like to live again?

Yes. A lot of my twenties. Some mistakes were too much fun to only do once!! I have no regrets. Everything has made me the person I am - love it or not. :) I lost a friend at a young age. She taught me to say "I love you" now - you may not get another chance. I've tried to live by that rule.
10.Do you have a message for romanian readers? Why would you recommend your book?

The series is geared for the middle grade (ages 8-12). I have had people from all ages enjoy it, though. It depends if you are looking for a cute, easy, fun read or something with tremendous fantasy depth. This is a story like ones I love - fairy tales re-told. If you want a feel-good story and a few chuckles, you should like them. You don't have to follow along from the beginning, although #1 is where you get your back story on the girls.  If King Arthur is your "thing", dive away into #3. :)
Happy Reading!
