Author Talia Aikens-Nuñez
Talia Aikens-Nuñez wanted to be a meteorologist, a politician and a lawyer. She never thought she would be a writer. It was the birth of her daughter that caused her to start writing. Raising a bilingual child inspired Talia to write lyrical children’s books. These ‘first experience’ books introduce Spanish to children and parents too! Talia’s family loves nature so much that she and her husband vowed that they will always try to live close to water. She, her husband and daughter live on a river in Connecticut with their daughter Isabella.

~Author Interview~

1. Hello, Talia! Can you tell us something about you and your book „Escucha Means Listen"?
Escucha Means Listen was written for my daughter. It is the first of my series of bilingual 'first experience' children's books. The next one, "Buenos Días Means Good Morning”, will also be released by Musa Publishing. You can check my website to see more information on it.

2. When have you decided that you want to be a writer?
After my daughter was born, I was looking for certain kinds of books for her. I wanted books that were multicultural but not preachy with lots of color, basically books that are fun.

3. Does any of your fictional character ressembles you?
The little girl in Escucha Means Listen reminds me of my daughter.

4. Wich book is the first one that you’ve read?
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was the first book I read on my own.

5. Do you have a favorite book?
I can’t choose a favorite book. I remember a line from one of my favorite movies when asked that question. She replied, “I could no sooner choose a favorite star in the heavens.”

6. If you were about to leave in a trip wich book would you take with you?
I like reading classics or a romance novel on the beach. It is usually either something written before 1900 or something that makes me turn the pages so fast that I do not realize that I am burning.
7. Tell us one thing you’d like to change at people from nowadays.
I think people need to do more things for pleasure like reading, taking a walk, playing a game with their family. I think people work and rush too much and do not enjoy life enough. I am also guilty of this same thing.

8. Is there a moment in your life you’d like to live again?
Not really. I think I made the most of each moment with the information that I had at that time.

9.Do you have a message for romanian readers? Why would you recommend your book?
I would recommend my book because it is bright and colorful and fun for kids to read. It is also a learning tool for kids and parents who want to learn a little Spanish or just expose themselves to the language.
